Letter from Home

I got a letter from one of our mission friends that blessed me: “I am blessed and thrilled each time your “Go YE” comes in the mail. I have followed your ministry, going back to the time, Gisela was pregnant with Markus. Ulrich and Gisela ministered in my German speaking home church in Ohio. We heard Ulrich’s testimony of his motorcycle accident at age 16. We bought the “record” (in those days) of Ulrich’s testimonies and shared it with many people. I was healed of depression listening to it…Some time ago a guest speaker came to our church and his wife gave a testimony, how she was rescued out of Vietnam by a missionary and through miracles finally arrived in USA. A chill went through me and I felt she was one of the orphans Ulrich trusted God for deliverance to safety. Sure enough, after the service I made my way to her and asked if Ulrich was the man. She was so excited to meet someone who personally met Ulrich and Gisela. I was overjoyed with her. What a small world we live in, but what a BIG God we serve!” - Martha K., Ohio Reading this letter took my thoughts back over 30 years. When in 1975 during the Vietnam war the Lord told Ulrich to go to Vietnam. Both of us left Markus at two years old with our good friends in Oklahoma City and went to Vietnam. It was that hard for me, as a young mom to leave my baby behind, not knowing if I ever see him again. While we were in Vietnam, it was scary and dangerous even bombs fell. All I could do is pray, that the Lord gets us out again. We trusted the Lord that HE would take care of us and Markus. During that time we set up an orphanage and then Ulrich got another task from the Lord, to rescue stranded orphan children and bring them to the United States. Before long we had a whole group of 23 orphans together. Theses were children where we were told that they had no parents left. One of theses children was Carey. Carey got adopted by our good friends who watched Markus during our Vietnam stay. She grew up and went to bible school where she met her husband. Right now Carey, her husband Jay and they 4 daughters are missionaries in Madagascar.
